Welcome To Isa-e Church Bangladesh
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
(Genesis 1:1)
সৃষ্টির শুরুতেই খোদা আসমান ও জমীন সৃষ্টি করলেন ।
(পয়দায়েশ ১ঃ১ পদ )
Our founder, Pastor Abdul Mabud Chowdhury, by the grace of Almighty God, accepted Jesus as his personal Savior in 1985. Since then he felt the burden for letting others know the Love of God. But he sincerely realized that in our context there exists a strong cultural barrier. This problem is so strong that prevents any new listener to understand and accept the truth of salvation, and need of Jesus as their personal Savior.
Considering this fact Islamic understanding of God and their misconception about their own religion created a strong barrier which needs to be broken before approaching them with the Good News. As a result Pastor Abdul Mabud Chowdhury by the Grace of God facilitated several initiatives to plant churches, which is more acceptable by any Islamic minded person. Our majority community is comprised mostly of Muslims; Muslims are commonly known as very zealous and fundamental to their own faith. Pastor Abdul Mabud Chowdhury has successfully created a strategy and God has enabled him to establish more than 120 churches using this strategy, which is purely owned, and led by the believers those who are from the majority community.
The context of present Christian community also needs to be understood as it is. Most of the churches have failed to include any significant number of new believers into their own main line churches. Further Christian leaders from Hindu background finds difficult to accept believers from Muslim background into their own churches. This has create a strong barrier from Muslim background to accommodate themselves in their church and serve in any leadership position. Existing Christian leadership at present are mostly from Hindu background. They feel a strong challenge to integrate any majority community believers into their own churches. They are busy in sustaining their own tradition and denominational belief and practices. Church attendance is poor, no outreach program is being carried out, and program activities of churches are confined in routine program. After the independence of Bangladesh many Christian NGOs came which helped the main line churches to run their own social program, which did not exist before. These program activities helped the leadership structure to sustain and play their patronizing role. Social program activities are mostly benefitting the church and denominational Christians. Which in turn helping the existing leadership structure to sustain in their own leadership pattern. Patronization and patronship became an important tool to sustain existing denominational leadership structure. Bangladesh now has become the place of many missions having many churches, and the church has no mission. However, many have started to take new initiative to plant churches as an indigenous church planting movement. Our Isa-e church here is the first and foremost pioneer.
Isa-e Church strongly felt to act as catalyst so that the main line church can start accommodating believers from the majority community into their own church. Because existing churches are comprised of believers from Hindu background and they are reluctant to be integrated with believers from the majority community believers. So far we have been successful to contextualize liturgy and theology, which is more acceptable to people from Islamic faith. We use Hebrew names (which is more acceptable and understandable by the Muslims) instead of Bengali and English names in the Bible. We have now also started to introduce similar strategy for Hindu background believers. Similarly this new approach is becoming more acceptable by Hindus, the majority community of India.
